Coach's Comments:
Our trip to Calgary was outstanding. For most of the boys not only was this their first National Championship but it was for many their first trip out West. The day we arrived we had our first court orientation practice in our new gym which left many teammates a little concerned about playing on the sport court surface. We then piled into our two vans and headed off to Banff for an awesome tour of the town and a ride up the gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain. The weather was perfect, the experience and views spectacular. On Day 1 of the competition, we advanced to the top Power Pools with some nail biting victories over Vernon BC and Calgary Air. A hard fought loss to WinMan left us in second place headed for a tough pool the next day. Day 2 was probably the most satisfying day of the year for the team, as we proceeded to win all three of our matches. Early wins against Winnipeg Dakota and Win Man Grey set the stage for a battle for first place against the Alberta Champions from Edmonton - NAVC Golden Bears. The team played extremely well and the Bears went down without much of a struggle. Alas all good things must come to an end and in the quarter finals the next day, our old friends from Scarborough defeated us once again in a thrilling 25-20, 28-26 match. As we look back on our very successful season we take pride in the fact that we only lost to 2 teams all year. Those two teams were National champions and the second place finishers. The coaches would like to thank everyone who helped this year, especially our parent managers Kris Rathbone and Cookie Greenway for their work behind the scenes, along with our ever ready linesmen Paul Rathbone and Peter Gauld. Coaching this fine group of young men was made much easier thanks to your contributions. We hope that everyone from the team has a great summer, plays some beach or court ball along the way and comes back next year ready to step forward into another season. Respectfully submitted, Rob Atkinson

Coach's Comments:
The Provincial Championships always seem to be memorable and this one was no different.  The first day went very smoothly with easy wins occuring through our pool play.  Rather than staying in Cambridge it was an easy drive back to London and a gentle return Sunday morning.   In our quarter finals Durham Attack came out flying and built an early lead.  Our boys did well to keep their composure and after winning a close first set we easily advanced into the semi-finals against SVC of Mississauga.  This proved to be the best we played all year.  All members were working together and a convincing victory was easily obtained.   The stage was set yet again for a great gold medal game against Scarborough and this one did not disappoint.  Although we were on the short end of a 26-24, 23-25,15-12 marathon, the level of play exhibited by these 15 and 16 year old athletes left everyone in the packed gym thoroughly impressed.    Next up... the rest of Canada, as we are off to Calgary to see where we stand with the rest of the good teams in our country.

Coach's Comments:
In our only home tournament this season we treated our supporters to some very exciting volleyball. The early rounds were predictable and our boys played very well. All players saw plenty of court time in our undefeated march through the quarter finals. The semi finals demanded an inspired and gritty performance as we dropped the first set to Toronto West only to eventually break through in a thrilling three-set contest. In what is now a familiar match up we lost in the gold medal game to the Scarborough CRUSH. We once again had difficulty stopping their powerful outside attack. This concludes our regular season and we are looking forward to our Provincial Championships in April. Good luck to all teams as they prepare for the Ontario Championships. The Coaches; Rob, Mike & Travis

Coach's Comments:
Our third tournament of the year proved to be our best in every way but one. We won the silver medal instead of the gold. In virtually every other measureable criteria we played our best volleyball of the year. The team and the coaches need to feel very good about the day's play as the results indicate that when we are on our game we can separate ourselves from most of our competitiors. This gives us great energy moving into the second half of our season and we can hardly wait for our next tournament which is on our home courts at Fanshawe College. Hopefully, we can get lots of people to come out and watch us as this is our only home date of the season. Looking forward to seeing you all out on Saturday, March 1st at Fanshawe. Coach Atkinson

Coach's Comments:
This past weekend saw our boys win their second tournament of the season. Unlike the opener however this one was not so easy. The team won all six matches it played but five of those matches went three games and in the match that we swept two straight one of those games was 38-36. Never has the separation between first and relegation to Tier II been so close. In the final our come back victory against arch rival "CRUSH" of Scarborough was more inspirational then technical. The coaches are pleased that this team showed so much character and now we will return to practice to continue to work on consistency. Thanks, Coach Atkinson

Coach's Comments:
Our first tournament of the year saw all twelve team members receive lots of quality court time. Although our play was not always crisp, we did manage to go undefeated in our five matches. The coaches look forward to getting back into the gym to continue our training. We would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy and safe holiday season. Looking forward to the New Year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year - Rob, Mike and Travis.
