Our second tournament of the year and the girls played hard and showed improvement. Our serving was much better with most first serves going over the net this time, all the hard work is paying off! Lindsay did a great job setting for the team, Simone got her first block of the season, I am sure there will be many more to come. I was really impressed that we only allowed a few balls to hit the floor without one of us chasing it. The only loss came against our own FC U13 team, we did a great job with their hard serves and there was many exciting rallies. The bronze medal match saw a number of us diving to save balls, hitting some nice spikes and serving nice hard overhand serves! We are going in the right direction, keep up the hard work girls!
Also a big thank you to the parents that supplied a wonderful lunch for the girls. Hope you all have a very happy and safe holiday season.

The girls worked very hard at remembering their new defence positioning and by the end of the day we had it mastered. We had very close matches, all of them going to the third game, but we were unable to win that last game. The good news was this gave the girls alot of playing time. I was pleased with the serves, and the setters did a great job of getting the ball to our hitters. I found a way to ensure the girls call the ball early and loud and will be using this new technique at our next tournament! It was a great start to the season, I am sure we will continue to improve and see wonderful volleyball being played in our next tournament.

Well the girls got to see what Tier One volleyball is all about on Friday and we hung in there pretty good. We came third in our pool, the girls served well and passed some really hard serves to stay in all the games. We worked as a team communicating well and the setters did their best to get the hitters the ball. Some of the girls stayed over and we had a nice team dinner at Swiss Chalet and they had fun in the pool. Saturday was a great day for us, we played some really good volleyball with Brianna diving and saving some ungettable balls. Sarah did an awesome job at left side, a departure from her usual position as setter, Simone had some amazing blocks, Kaylin and Shelly were very consistent in passing serve to our setters. This allowed Sheila and Mary Jane to set our middles, Maddy, Allison and Lindsay and they had a great day hitting the balls. Taylor played very solid all tournament and was awarded the OVA award of excellence for her hard work all season long. I was most impressed with Michaela this tournament as I saw her come out of her shell and really embrace the sport. She called the ball nice a loud, she went after balls, her hitting and serving was consistent and she looked like she was having fun! We came fourth in our pool with some very close matches that could have gone either way! Sunday saw us come out very flat and we just could not get going. The facilities for this tournament was very impressive and it was neat to be able between matches to see some amazing U18 volleyball. This was the first provincials for most of you, a great experience and I know you learned alot. Well done girls.

The girls were all eager to play since we missed our last tournament due to bad weather in Feburary. Only 8 girls were able to play and they all played their hearts out and were very tired by the end of the day. We were very consistent with getting almost all of our 1st serves over, Mr Peckham will be happy to hear this! Since we haven't played for a while our team defence was a little shaky but we managed to come first in our pool. Our playoff games were all very close and it could have gone either way. Talyor kept us in them with great bullet-like serves and nice hard down balls, Shelly and Kaylin had some nice defensive plays and Michaela did a super job playing middle in the front row! We will continue to work hard in practices and improve our play at the Provincals in April. Great job girls.
